Raven
Rock State Park is located six miles west of Lillington. Raven Rock State
Park is 4,667-acres centered on Cape Fear River. Its prime location offers sites
for camping, fishing, horseback riding, hiking and canoeing. The Fish Traps
and the mouth of Campbell Creek are the best places for fishing in the Cape
Fear River. Game fish in these waters include largemouth bass, warmouth, bluegill,
catfish, redear and green sunfish.
The Cape Fear Canoe Trail travels for 56 miles along the Cape
Fear River from an access point at the US 1 bridge over Deep River. A wide trail
leads to one of the picnic grounds from the parking lots on the south side of
the river. Towering oak and hickory trees provide shade for 27 tables and eight
grills. Drinking water, restrooms and a refreshment stand with drink and snack
machines are located nearby. Five sites are available for Family camping by
following the Campbell Creek Loop Trail. Each of the five sites accommodate
up to four people, offer tent pads, fire rings and a vault toilet. Group camping
sites are available as well.
